Que Pena con Usted

Como estamos mudando hoy, estamos muy estrechos con tiempo por el trasteo. Ya después de escribir al presidente y mandar los datos, ya casi no deja tiempo.

[ As we're moving today, we're very limited for time. So now after writing to the president and sending him the dates, I barely have any time left].

But the news is that we´re moving today. We used to have almost the worse house in the mission (where Élder Velazquez is now is the worst house in the mission - in Mogambo, Montería) but today we´re moving. We´re looking forward to a great week, and we had a good weekend of work, but stuff is happening in Armenia and we´re on our way to create a Stake.

I was assigned a talk in Church yesterday and I felt it was important to talk about friends. Really, the importance of making friends with people who aren't active in the church, be they less-active or not baptized. The activity in the Church shouldn't depend on if they feel comfortable or fellowshipped by the members because it should be a given. Their activity should depend solely on their own testimony. I´ve met too many people on the mission that don´t go to church because they don´t have friends there and the members think that being their ´friend´ is visit them every week or month and invite them to church. A friend would communicate with the person often, invite them to things, spend time with them outside of their callings or responsibilities, serve them, help them out, and there just isn't enough of that in the Church in general. It makes a huge difference, though.

One mistake that many people make here is the requisites for read the Book of Mormon. They often say they don´t have time, but it´s because they try to take out 15-20 minutes at least. It´s better to read the Book of Mormon for 2 minutes everyday than 20 minutes every week. It isn´t a textbook, it isn´t just to obtain knowledge and memorize. It´s the key to our spiritual progress, the key to our religion and if everyday there are temptations and confusions and spots from the world, how can we think that we are alright not strengthening us as equally frequent or more frequently? Read the Book of Mormon EVERYDAY if it be for few minutes or for more.
