Sending Letters and Packages to Colombia

Things to know when sending letters and packages to Kai in Colombia, as sent from his Mission President:
  • Send letters and small, lightweight packages through regular post office mail and not through carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.
  • Regular mail is usually quicker and less expensive.
  • Unfortunately, packages sent to other countries often do not reach their intended destination.  When they do arrive, they are subject to taxes that the missionary must pay from his own personal funds.  This amount may be equal to or greater than the cost of the items being sent.
  • If shipping a package, you may need the mission office phone number: 574-317-4159
All letters and packages should be sent to:
Kai Cyril Hicken
Colombia Medellin Mission
Calle 7 Sur 42-70 Edificio Forum P.H.
Etapa 1, Piso 24, Oficina 2405
Medellin Antioquia
COLOMBIA

You may also send a letter by pouch mail, meaning you send it to Salt Lake and they forward it on to Colombia. The requirements are:
    • One sheet of plain paper
    • Tri-folded and taped closed on the top.  Do not seal the sides.
    • Do not include anything else in the letter, like photos or cash.
    • Without an envelope
    • One US Stamp on the paper and send it as is.
    • For more info about the Pouch Mail System for Missionaries, click here.
Pouch letters can be sent to:
Elder Kai Cyril Hicken
Colombia Medellin Mission
PO Box 30150
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0150

Another way to use the pouch mail, but for free, is to use DearElder.com.  This time, use the scroll down menu to select "Peru Lima Central" and click "write letter".  All letters submitted by 11:59 pm Sunday night will be sent out on Monday.  They will print it and send it for free, following all the pouch guidelines.
